DELIVERED FRIDAY 20th MAY 🌱
We come this week with a vibrant menu celebrating the best of the season's produce - including local asparagus, Oxfordshire lamb, probably the last of the wild garlic, a ratatouille that'll be packed with early season spring veg and mint from our kitchen garden in the dessert.
This will be our last menu for a couple of weeks due to wedding commitments, but we've just launched a rewards program for when we return in early June!.. Click the button in the bottom right of the website, create an account and when you make your order, your account will be credited with £1 for every £10 spent, to use on your next order... So if you order a feast for 2 @ £51, you'll get £5 off your next order, order a feast for 4 @ £102 and you'll get £10 off your next order! You'll then have 60 days to redeem the credit. Simples.
We start with a Native classic - our take on Caesar salad but with a spring time twist. Prepped Local asparagus spears & baby gem lettuce will be tumbled with crunchy, salty sourdough croutons and shavings of Old Winchester (England's take on Parmesan and fully veggie) before lathering with a potent wild garlic ranch dressing. Spring on a plate and delicious with a glass of Ciello Bianco (add on for £11)
Albondigas are a Spanish meatball and we're doing a lovely local lamb version, or an equally springy veg version with lentils, allotment chard and early carrots for the veggies that's amped with smoked paprika and lashings of garlic. Both will be plunged into a vital & vibrant ratatouille and served with our crunchy, incredibly moreish polenta chips liberally coated with our punchy truffled balsamic dressing. Ceillo's Nero D'Avola is a wonderful accompaniment and a steal at £11.
Mint & chocolate are best friends and our little kitchen garden is full of the most wonderful, tender mint at the moment so we're marrying the two for our take on 'mint choc chip', with the 'chip' being in the form of feuilletine crispies - a crunchy smashed, dried crepe. A beauty of a dessert and the perfect end to this springtime feast.
£25.5 with dessert or £21 without dessert 🌱
The Vesco family farm a large swathe of organic vineyards in the Alcamo Hills on Sicily's west coast and marry modern technology with traditional winemaking.
BIANCO 2020, Ciello, Sicily, Italy, 12.5%
A wonderful introduction to 'skin contact' wines, Ciello Bianco isn't an 'orange wine' as such but with the Catarratto grapes spending a brief amount of time fermenting on their skins, it has a slightly grippy texture set against bright exotic fruit and a hazy hue from being largely unfiltered which adds to the texture and moreishness. Super enjoyable and the perfect pairing for a wintery curry night in. A boon at £11.
ROSSO 2020, Ciello, Sicily, Italy, 12%
Ciello's ROSSO is made from 100% Nero D'Avola - a grape that is often overworked and picked too late, creating jammy wines that lack freshness. Ciello pick their fruit early and in the mornings and so maintain as much natural freshness as possible. Handled gently in the winery, without too much extraction, the resulting wine is fresh and vibrant with cherry & cola and gentle brushiness. A lovely, affordable 'natural' wine, it has buckets of character and won't break the bank. Delicious with the lamb or veggie albondigas main. A steal at £11.
organic / native yeasts / minimal fining & light filtration / no added sulphites
