🌽 FRIDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 🌽
We're back! We return with our first Feast At Home delivery after a busy summer of weddings and a bit of time off. Moving forward, we are going to mix the At Home deliveries in with proper 'in real life' pop-ups as well as our pre-covid bread & butter work of private and brand events, meaning that we won't be doing a delivery every week. We plan to release menus at least twice a month and will vary the offering to envelope mass celebrations, foodie & vinous calendar highlights and what we like eating as the seasons change. So keep your eyes on your emails and social media each Saturday morning for the following Friday's delivery. On to this week!
For our first feast back, we're making the most of this Indian summer and the glut of late season produce and have written a menu that shines with sun kissed produce, yet with a little nod towards the autumn ahead.. and the menu happens to be GLUTEN FREE - so tell all your GF pals!
🌽 MENU 🌽
Corn is bang in season and so Rectory Farm's cobs star in their best BBQ'd form alongside black beans inside to be stuffed inside fresh corn tortillas. You'll drizzle over both a smokey burnt onion relish for savoury hit and a pineapple salsa for sweetness & kick.
Springfield Farm chickens (or salted baked celeriac for the veggies) will be gleefully glazed with a sticky apricot & maple reduction for you to finish off in the oven and served with sweet potatoes chips that to be slathered with a caesar-like buttermilk dressing and a lovely carrot salad that nods to Autumn but brings freshness & vitality in spades.
For dessert, what is better at this time of year than ripe little wild blackberries? We'll be foraging deep in the hedgerows for the best, most plump ones and compote them, to sit atop a decadent pot of salted chocolate and then finished with a topping of chocolate crispies for texture. See you Friday?
🌽 WINE 🌽
We've got a lovely baby orange wine made from Verdejo by Para Jiminez in Spain's La Mancha region for those that like it light & refreshing and also Sebastien David's "L'Hurluberlu" Cab Franc for those who need red - one of our favourite reds to chill a wee bit before drinking.
EL TROYANO, Para Jiminéz, La Mancha, Spain, 11% - Verdejo
Verdejo grapes fermented in amphora & stainless to garner amber colour, texture & flavour from the time in contact with the skins and pulp. Red current, rhubarb & apple abound. Wonderfully fresh and approachable, it's a delicious intro into 'orange wines' and works wonderfully with the whole menu and is dangerously drinkable at 11%. Our pick for an Indian summer's feast at home.

Organic / native yeasts / minimal fining & filtration / minimal added sulphites
L'HURLUBERLU, Sebastien David, Loire, France, 12.5% - Cabernet Franc
A cult wine of great drinkability and joie de vivre. Cabernet France made in Seb David's 400 year old family owned troglodyte caves just outside Saint Nicholas de Bourgueil in the Loire Valley from organic vines. Plum-like in colour and with a real vivid translucency, it has all those wonderful black berry flavours and the hint of spice that the grape does so well. With minimal tannins and a freshness to boot, it's a really lithe, drinkable riff on the grape and one of our faves. Great with a brief chill before serving.
